This journey began over six years ago, I experienced long periods of unexplained illness. There were months where I was confined to bed with extreme fatigue, headaches, nausea, and a range of symptoms no specialist could fully explain. Each time I felt well enough, I would push through and attempt to return to my normal life and training.
In 2020, I reached a breaking point. I was finishing my final weeks working at a high-paced public relations agency while also training with the New Zealand hockey team.
My body completely shut down. I was unable to get out of bed, dealing with chronic nausea, fatigue, insomnia, headaches, and anxiety.
I searched everywhere for answers. Specialists, tests, treatments, diets, supplements, holistic therapies. Yet nothing addressed what was truly happening beneath the surface. At the same time, I realised how disconnected I had become from my own body. My inner system had been signalling for years that something needed to change.
The turning point came when I began to turn inward. One moment that stands out clearly was sitting in my psychologist’s office and finally allowing myself to fully cry and release emotions I had been suppressing for years.
After that session, the chronic nausea disappeared for a few days. It was the first moment I experienced the mind–body connection so clearly.
I began to understand that the mind and body are not separate systems. Our nervous system stores our experiences, our stress responses, and the patterns that shape how we move through the world. This insight led me down a path of studying nervous system regulation, neuroscience, breathwork, and mind-body training. As I began working directly with my nervous system and internal state, I completely transformed within.
My energy returned, my symptoms reduced, and eventually, I returned to high-performance sport and competition with the New Zealand hockey team.
But most importantly, I noticed something else. When my nervous system was regulated and aligned, flow state became easy to access. Performance no longer came from pushing harder or forcing outcomes, but from creating the internal conditions that allowed my best performances to emerge naturally.
Through this journey, I developed the method I now use with athletes and high performers today. A system for the nervous system, clearing subconscious interference, and creating the internal state to create consistent access to flow state.
This work was born from lived experience, being performance environments, and years of exploring the connection between the mind, body.
The nervous system and subconscious are our greatest gateway to who we want to be, how we want to live and how we want to feel. We just need to learn how to access it.
